| AJHA Definition of History |
For purposes of written research papers and publications, the term "history" shall be seen as a continuous process, emphasizing but not necessarily confined to subjects of American mass communications. It should be viewed not in the context of perception of the current decade, but as part of a unique, significant, and time-conditioned past.
|
| American Journalism |
AJ is the quarterly journal sponsored by AJHA. American Journalism publishes articles, research notes, book reviews, and correspondence
dealing with the history of journalism. Recent editions of American
Journalism are available via the EBSCO data base.

| History in the Curriculum Committee |
Read
the Committee's Report given to AJHA at convention in
Richmond 2007 (.pdf download).
Originally a
task force, the committee's initial intent was (1) to determine which schools offer
what courses in journalism/mass communication history and
(2) to explore ways (a) to encourage more schools to offer
history and (b) to encourage schools to attach greater importance
to history at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Most of the work of the task force was
(1) surveying schools and (2) developing proposals.
The
AJHA thanks David Sloan and Jim McPherson for co-chairing
this important work.
